Welcome

So, what’s brought you here today? Perhaps anxiety is keeping you on edge, or depression has made things feel heavy or flat. Maybe your relationships are tricky, or you’re just feeling a bit lost.. Or perhaps you’re simply tired of carrying it all alone.

Whatever it is, you’re in the right place to start untangling it. I offer online counselling and outdoor therapy in Godalming and the surrounding area, providing a supportive and confidential space where you can explore whatever is on your mind.

What to expect from our sessions

A space to feel heard

Real change happens when you feel seen, heard, and understood, without pressure or judgement. I’m not here to give you advice or tell you how to live your life. I’m here to sit alongside you, listen, and create a safe space where you can explore whatever’s on your mind. For me, the heart of therapy is the relationship between us - something I’ve come to value deeply through many years working in the arts and creative industries, where trust, collaboration, and emotional awareness are essential.

Your pace, your process

I work in a person-centred way, which means I believe you already have the resources you need. Together, we can uncover them, gently, at your own pace. I like to keep things relaxed and down-to-earth, and I think there’s often room for a bit of humour along the way. Therapy doesn’t have to be heavy all the time; a little lightness can help us get through the tough parts.

Sessions can take place online, or outdoors in local green spaces around Godalming, where being in nature can sometimes help create a sense of calm and openness. Outdoor sessions may involve gentle walking or simply sitting outdoors, depending on what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

Starting the Conversation

Reaching out can feel intimidating, and taking that first step is a brave thing to do. Finding someone you feel comfortable with matters. If what you’ve read here feels like it could be a good fit, a simple conversation - online via Zoom, or over the phone - can be a gentle way to start. From there, we can see whether working together feels right.

“Emma has such a warm, natural way of working with clients. She holds space so beautifully, and makes her clients feel so supported. I've seen first hand how therapeutic her approach is, and how her clients can explore their issues and effect real change.”

- Rob Pratt (Counsellor)

Why Outdoor Therapy

For some people, being outdoors can make it easier to talk about difficult experiences or emotions. The rhythm of walking, fresh air, and natural surroundings can help create a sense of calm and perspective.

Outdoor therapy can feel less confined than traditional therapy settings and may help people feel more grounded and at ease.

What sessions are like

Sessions take place in quiet outdoor locations around Godalming and nearby areas, such as local parks, woodland paths, or riverside walks. Sessions last 50 minutes and follow the same gentle, person-centred approach as my online work. We may walk at a relaxed pace or sit outdoors, depending on what feels comfortable and accessible for you.

Practical considerations

Before beginning outdoor sessions, we will talk through practical details such as weather, privacy, and suitable locations to ensure the space feels safe and supportive. If weather conditions are not suitable, sessions can always move online.

Getting Started

If you’re interested in outdoor therapy, you’re welcome to get in touch to arrange a free 20-minute introductory call. This gives us an opportunity to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

FAQs

  • It’s a way of working that puts you at the centre. You’re the expert on your own life, and my role isn’t to give advice or tell you what to do, it’s to offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore whatever’s going on for you. We go at your pace, in your way.

  • Absolutely anything. People often bring things like stress, anxiety, relationships, grief, trauma, self-esteem, or just a sense of feeling lost. But there are no rules - if it matters to you, it matters here.

  • That really depends. Some people come for a handful of sessions, others for much longer. We’ll check in as we go so you can decide what feels right for you.

  • Yes. What we talk about stays between us, unless there’s ever a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. I’ll explain the boundaries clearly when we start.

  • I’m a qualified counsellor (CPCAB Level 4 Diploma) and a registered member of the BACP, which means I’ve trained to national standards and work within a strong ethical framework to support your wellbeing.

  • The relationship really matters, so it’s important you feel comfortable. That’s why I offer an initial chat - no pressure, just a chance to see how it feels.

  • That’s absolutely fine. You don’t need a script or a clear plan. We can begin with what’s been on your mind lately, or simply with how things are feeling for you right now.

  • Sessions last 50 minutes, usually at the same time each week.

  • I offer online sessions via Zoom, as well as outdoor “walk and talk” therapy in Godalming and the surrounding area. Outdoor sessions take place in quiet local green spaces and we walk at a gentle, comfortable pace.

  • If you ever need to cancel or move a session, just let me know as soon as you can - ideally 48 hours before. With less notice the session will still be charged. Holidays or planned breaks are no problem if we talk about them ahead of time. And if you’re late, we’ll just use the time we’ve got left. Keeping things regular makes the work more helpful, but I’ll always try to be flexible where I can.

  • Sessions are £55.

    Trainee Counsellors are £45

I offer a small number of concessionary spaces for clients who need a reduced fee to access therapy. These slots are limited and may involve a short waiting period. If you feel a concession would make therapy more accessible for you, please let me know and we can discuss availability. Concessions are offered for

Low income - Students - Unemployed - Key workers - Refugees

We’ll go through payment details before we begin.

  • Just get in touch by filling in the ‘contact me’ section below and we can set up an initial conversation to see if it feels right for you.
